The PC Case
- Cases come in many different types, shapes and sizes.
- The inside of the PC case will house all of The PC's internal
devices and components.
- Most PC speakers are built into the PC case and have submini
connectors that connect directly to the motherboard. Check the writing on the
motherboard to note where to place the PC speaker connectors.
- You hear the PC speakers everytime you turn on (boot) your
computer. Next time, listen for the familiar "beep" when you boot your
computer.
- Remember there are sharp parts to cases. Be careful when
handling.
- Cases are made of inexpensive metal.
- All PC cases have an outer cover. Its up to the user to
determine how to remove or open the case cover
- Some cases have faceplates that must be removed to have access
to components.
- Cases come in many sizes. There are full-tower, mid-tower and
desktop cases. There are also micro, compact and server cases.
- Select a case size based upon how many components you wish to
install in the PC. Remember that the PC case must have enough space to install additional
devices when needed.
The outside of the PC case provides support to
attach external components (peripherals).
The outside of the PC case where the cords are
hanging (usually in the back of the case) helps us determine what type of motherboard (AT
or ATX form factor) is installed on the inside of the PC case.
