Actias luna moth has seasonal forms where it is double brooded. The summer form has yellow wing margins, spring form has pink to purple wing margins. Larva feeds mainly on Sweetgum, Hickory,Walnut and Birch. Oak pupa is active in its papery cocoon, usually spun on the ground.

Hyalophora cecropia moth is the largest North American Silkmoth attaining a wingspan of up to 6." The larva feeds on a variety of trees and shrubs but mainly on Cherry, Plum elderberry, Birch, and Willow.The overwintering cocoon does not hang but is attached lengthwiseto a twig or a plant on which the larva has fed.

Antheraea polyphemus moth, perhaps the most common giant silkmoth,was named after the one-eyed giant, Polyphemus, of Greek mythology because of its large eye spots on its hindwings. In the south, it has two broods.The accordian shaped larva feeds on Oak, Hickory, Elm, Maple and Birch.The rounded tough parchment-like cocoon is found hanging on the food plant.
