Here are some helpful hints for fishing with GloWingsTM GloWings Are very sensitive to even small currents. For this reason they are great for a variety of fishing techniques and conditions. Not only do they produce their own light but the waffle pattern of the wings helps create more turbulence for fish to sense. Below you will find information and helpful hints about how to use GloWings brand fishing spinners. |
The
new non radio active strontium compound
still glows brightly. Fig 2
After just 1 minute in the dark the difference is quite. dramatic. On the right, barely visible is the old Zinc Sulfide compound while on the left the new compond glows bright!. |
GloWings™ brand spinners luminescence is not as affected by light conditions the way non-glow in the dark lures are because of the new glow in the dark material in the wings. Where other lures and spinner baits must depend on light coming down from the surface of the water and then reflecting off the lure, GloWings take the light source down into the blackness with them. Charge the GloWingsTM with a bright flashlight, or portable neon light and best a portable black light. Fully charged GloWingsTM and GloRingsTM glow brightly enhancing the distance fish can see t.hem. On bright sunny days the sun will charge the GloWings™ and GloRingsTM in a matter of seconds and as the brightly glowing lures descend into the deeper murky waters the light from the glowing lures expand th normal distance the fish can see your offering. Another advantage is that after a few fathoms all colors but green are filtered out by the water so only green dimly shows up. A few more feet further down and even green is filtered out leaving blackness. Because gloWings brand spinners are their own light source they glow brightly at any depth or in muddy or turbid waters. You can choose the color or colors you want and that color can be seen at any depth. Glow in the dark fishing lures and spinners are growing fast in popularity so it just makes sense to choose GloWings™ or GloRings™ that use super long glowing materials that glow longer and brighter. |

Cast and retrieve is a technique I use when fishing from the pier at the Brownsville Marina here in the Puget Sound area of Washington state, (U.S.). I attach a sinker about a foot above the GloWing™ brand spinner. Pick a weight heavy enough to allow you to cast. Of course a light weight will not cast as far and will sink slower requiring a slower retrieval. Conversely a heavy weight will cast further but sink faster dictating a faster reel in. I like to cast the spinner out and then retrieve it in spurts allowing it to sink and rise as I pull it in a short distance and then let it rest again and sink down a few feet. The spinneers will continue to rotate as the lure sinks. I repeat the process until a fish takes the lure or the spinner is at my feet. Fish are opportunistic. The majority of the time you will get a strike during the resting stage of the lure retrieval. A fish will often follow your lure as you reel it in and the moment it stops the fish will strike! For restless people like me cast and retrieve is the ideal way to fish. |

The Squid Chaser No longer available. Fig 5 Yellows and greens are more easily seen by fish because water soon filters out all other colors Hence the axion repeated by many experienced fishers, "If it ain't chartreuse it ain't no use." |
Trolling with GloWings™ brand spinners is just like trolling with any other spinner bait, spoons or pop gear. Add the desired weight just in front of the spinner to hold it down to the depth you want to fish at. The nice thing about trolling with gloWing brand spinners is that you can troll very slowly and still get lots of action. An electric motor is great and since you can keep the trolling speed to a minimum, and still get plenty of action from the GloWings™, the batteries last longer allowing you to fish longer. I have even trolled from a kayak and a canoe with good success and that is really fun! |
The Orange Wobbler is no longer available. Fig 6 The Orange Wobbler can take faster currents and the articulated sections create a tempting swim like wobble. |
Fast water streams are best suited for the wobbler type spinner baits like the Orange wobbler shown in fig. 6. Green and Orange Wobblers are no
longer available!

In conclusion GloWings™ advantages are. They produce there own light so they don't have to depend on light from the surface. The bright glow in the dark makes them ideal for night fishing or fishing in deep, silty or turbid waters. The the wing sections are ganged like a pop gear in miniature . Also the three wing sections along with the waffle pattern helps create turbulence and vibrations in the water that fish can feel. The props or wings are very sensitive to even slow currents making then ideal for trolling from a canoe or kayak and for up and down jigging. They are highly colored and come in a verity of colors and combinations of colors. Glass beads between the wing segments and opposing spins help reduce line twist. |
