Protecting nearly 117 million acres of land and water in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, South America, the Carribean, Asia, and the Pacific the Nature Conservancy is the largest conservation campaign ever undertaken. Through use of a science-based plan the Nature Conservancy has collaborated with governments, industry, local communities, and international conservation organizations. The Nature Conservancy recently (as of September 2004) bought 97,000 acre Baca Ranch in Colorado, making the new Great Sand Dunes National Park. It also buys land and resell it with restricted development rights. Here you can find the Nature Conservancy chapter near you.

The Nature Conservancy works for the environment by protecting what it can. It has a strong belief in using its scientific plan of setting priorities, developing strategies, taking action, and measuring success. Its trust has grown in the plan with each success. It has an extremely strong faith in its mission. The president of the organization talks about his faith in their mission to preserve the natural world to save the human race. Although enjoyment of nature is not its primary goal, part of the reason for conservation is to preserve nature for the ecologically safe enjoyment of future generations. They show much faith in future generations to continue preserving, researching, and discovering nature.
