KCBS-TV Channel 2 CBS
"CBS 2" is pretty much like its East Coast counterpart, WCBS. The news is good, but low rated. KCBS's only mistake is not running a 4pm newscast. I have always been satisfied with KCBS set and production.

KNBC-TV Channel 4 NBC
I think KNBC is the only NBC O&O that actually that actually beats the local ABC O&O in the news ratings. That's nice to see for once. The set is pretty clean and simple. When in LA, I seem to watch their AM news more than the others (I also watch KTLA).

KTLA-TV Channel 5 WB
KTLA is truly the shining star of the Tribune Family. I really like the moring show which may seem "too LA" for some since they do more than reporting traffic with their chopper, flying by office buldings and waving at the workers inside. The set is very modern and clean with a wood desk, relaxing yet vubrant tones of blue of yellow tones and view of the skyline. I think KTLA was the first station in the Southland with a primetime newscast. KTLA is also carried by cable companies in San Diego and small towns in Arizona.

KABC-TV Channel 7 ABC
I have not watched "ABC 7" since '95. I'm sure they have made changes since then. However, I remember set having brown Formica news desk. Traffic reports were done by the California Highway Patrol. KABC airs Oprah at 3:00 pm instead of 4:00 to make room for their 4:00 news.

KCAL-TV Channel 9 IND
WOW! KCAL has news at 8:00 pm, 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm! A local broadcast news channel, what a great idea. During the day, KCAL airs first-run syndicated programs that KCBS, KABC and KNBC don't have room for. They spend a good deal of money on the news. They are one of the few stations that sends its own reporters to a news event out of town rather than soley relying on news services.

KTTV Channel 11 FOX
"FOX 11" is a pretty standard FOX affiliate that has to battle with KTLA. Pretty much the same as FOX 5 in New York. A great morning show, and a decent 10PM newscast.

KCOP-TV Channel 13 UPN
"UPN 13" is also much like its East Coast counterpart, WWOR. The only major difference is that KCOP airs a 7:30 pm newscast. KCOP 13 has spent big bucks redoing its news set and graphics in 1998. Look for elements building consistency throughout the package highlighting a new color palette include animated backgrounds, lower thirds, over-the-shoulders, double boxes, weather and sport graphics, and franchise opens for UPN 13's in-depth news segments featured during each telecast.

KSCI Channel 18 International
I have never seen KSCI, but they air many international programs.

KWHY-TV Channel 22, Spanish
About 5 or 6 years ago, KWHY dropped the financial Galavision network in order to become a full time independant commercial Spanish station. WWHY-TV is one of the only independantly run spanish stations in the country. They even have their own own local newscast and original programming too.

KCET-TV Channel 28 PBS
PBS for LA. A standard PBS affiliate, with little local production. It's amazing how many PBS stations are out there....

KPXN Channel 31
PAX TV for LA. No local production yet.

KMEX-TV Channel 34 Univison
KMEX is a very high rated Spanish station with their own chopper! Far better looking than Telemundo!

KTBN Channel 40 TBN
A full power Trinity Broadcasting Network station. Jesus-TV, oh boy!

KOCE-TV / Channel 50 / PBS
Located in Huntington Beach, KOCE primarily sevices the Orange County area. They have a nightly newscast called "Real Orange" that is equivalent to MPT's "News Night Maryland" in quality, which isn't bad. Lots of educational fare and cooking type shows too.

KVEA Channel 52 Telemundo
The Telemundo Network is a low budget version of "Univision", the most popular latino network. It has been rumored that Telemundo will be taken over or fold soon.

KDOC Channel 56 Ind.
Not much known about KDOC-TV. They are a rim shot that most people in the LA market can't get.

KLCS-TV / Channel 58 / PBS
Los Angeles County Schools owns and operates this educational TV station. Very low budget!

KRCA Channel 62 Asian
Similar to Northern New Jersey's WMBC-TV. Low budget Asian fare. KRCA also airs Spanish programming late at night.....soap operas, and other assorted spanish TV shows.
