The Darling Amelia

My small contribution to the misunderstood and underappreciated misstress.

What the heck!? An update!? HERE!? O_o Yes, it's true. I broke up the page because I have the distinct impression that it was sucking my bandwidth. (Repeat e-mails from Geocities saying they had to continuously shut down my site due to overloads kind of tipped me off.) Sounds and Pics are now located on seperate pages. The other bits are so small I left them here. If you are looking for some good Amelia links, check my Links Page.

Yes, I said misunderstood and underappreciated. Amelia is so cute! How could everyone hate her? I went into Volume 4 of Slayers fully expecting to hate her - hey, everyone else did and I figured "maybe there's something in what they say" - but as I watched the episode I kept thinking, "Hey, she's not so bad. Except for that awful voice from hell, she's really cool." (I really hate that voice, too. She really got shafted in that department. ~.~) But then when Volume 5 came out, I watched the original Japanese version and was elated to find that my Amelia had a cute and wonderfully normal voice. (Done by Suzuki Masami btw. I just love it when she says "Anou... Lina-san..." Oh, in the words of Sylphiel, kawaii kawaii kawaii! ^.^)

Amelia has two awful, horrible, undignifying voices in English, but one, beautifully cute voice in Japanese - in case you haven't noticed, I like the subs better no da! Amelia doesn't seem to be very tall, but has a bigger...ah, chest than Lina and is younger than Lina-san also, but by how much I have no idea. She is princess of Seyruun, but was run out by her father when she blew up a tower ("Amelia, you are a total nutcase!" Aw, not total, Lina...) in her ongoing quest for Justice. Maybe that's why I like Amelia so much; she loves Justice, just like me. (I'm a Libran ::blush::)

Well, here's what we've got in the way of Amelias here:

TRY Artbook Translation

Here is the translation of what Suzuki Masami says about her role as Amelia in the TRY Artbook. Translated by Patches.

"All in all, this was a wonderful three years. The series may be over, but it's not gone. I really want to give a lot of thanks to all the fans."

"In the three years of the series, the thing that left the biggest impression on me was... that scene in NEXT when you first get to see Zelgadis's face.... (laughs). That was intense! As for Amelia, I just love how her spirit draws you in. I hope to meet again."

Yay, Masami! ^-^
