MedHunt Full-Text Search Engine
MedHunt is a fast, full-text search engine dedicated to the health Internet. It offers extensive Internet and WWW information resources for
both medical professionals and the general public. It provides a rich, easy-to-use, quality-oriented and steadily-growing index of thousands of Web sites
and Internet medical support communities (listservers, newsgroups and FAQs) as well as a very extensive list of hospitals on the Web.
MedHunt
proposes MeSH terminology, a hierarchical structure of 33,000 medical concepts developed by the United States National Library of Medicine. Users are also
offered a list of further medical or health-related options that appear related to a given query and a spell checker to help refine their search. MedHunt's
unique standard display features a brief summary description of a site's content, its geographic location, organizational type and, where relevant,
highlights its subscription to the HONcode.
MedHunt is powered by a proprietary Swiss Web "robot"
called M.A.R.V.I.N. (for Multi-Agent Retrieval Vagabond on Information Networks). Armed with a glossary of medical terms, MARVIN tirelessly explores the Web
for new sources of information.
