The Adelaide Australia Temple

Few non-Australians understand just how big the country is, or how vast the distances are between its cities, and how empty the land is between them. While all of the saints welcomed the dedication of the Sydney Temple in 1982, those outside the Sydney area still had to travel incredible distances to attend the temple. The trip from Adelaide to Sydney is about 700 miles. The Adelaide temple is the first in a series of four new temples that will significantly shorten the distances that Australian saints have to travel to attend the temple.

The temple was announced on 17 March 1999.
Ground was broken and construction begun on 29 May 1999.
The cornerstone was laid and the temple dedicated on 15 June 2000.
There are 2 Sealing rooms and 2 Ordinance rooms in the 10,800 square foot temple.
The spire is 75 feet tall.
The Adelaide Temple serves stakes and districts in near Adelaide and in the North Territory of Australia.
