The Oklahoma City Oklahoma Temple

of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

Oklahoma used to be known as Indian Territory. This was the place where the United States sent all of the Native American tribes that were "in the way" of white settlers. These people were forced to leave their tribal homelands and the sacred ground of their ancestors. Now many of those who are members of the Church feel that Oklahoma is their ancestral home since there is now a temple there where they can seal themselves to their ancestors for all eternity.

The temple was announced on 14 March 1999.
Ground was broken and construction begun on 3 July 1999.
The cornerstone was laid and the temple dedicated on 30 July 2000.
There are 2 Sealing rooms and 2 Ordinance rooms in the 10,770 square foot temple.
The spire is 75 feet tall.
The Oklahoma Temple serves stakes in Oklahoma and parts of Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri.
