The Raleigh North Carolina Temple

of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

A school teacher in Raleigh noticed that the principal of her school, who is a Methodist minister, was not on the list of VIPs invited to tour the temple during the beginning of the open house. She personally invited him to the open house and he in turn invited his entire congregation. After the open house she attended his congregation and he brought her up to the pulpit and thanked her for the invitation and for sharing the beauty of the temple.

The temple was announced on 3 September 1998.
Ground was broken and construction begun on 6 February 1999.
The cornerstone was laid and the temple dedicated on 18-19 December 1999.
There are 2 Sealing rooms and 2 Ordinance rooms in the 10,700 square foot temple.
The spire is 78 feet tall.
The Raleigh Temple serves eight stakes: Winston-Salem, Durham, Greensboro, Raleigh, Goldsboro, Kinston, Fayetteville and Wilmington in North Carolina.
