USEFUL ADVICE WHEN DANCING

All progress to their own step and in twenty years of teaching, we have never found anybody that can not learn how to dance.

The good dancers make a sense of alert with regard to it self and to the other dancers that are in the same dancing room.

To develop this knowledge they apply the following thing.

In the popular dances any step behind should be short. This is applied so much to the man as the woman. If their step behind is long you will be able to meet with the following problems:

· can trip with other dancers that are to its surroundings or behind you

· to be stepped by other dancers

· to not be able to take comfortably neither the time to the music, neither to your couple.

Measure their step putting the front part of the foot that takes the step behind that it touch slightly against the interior check of their other foot (it maintains the weight of the body on the front part of the foot that goes behind with the detached check of the floor) then you may walks ahead with their opposed foot (with the whole weight on the check)

Every time that you will give a new step it should change the weight of the body from a foot to another.

Example.

Walk behind with their left foot and toward before with their right then changes the weight of the right foot toward the left one and walk behind with their right foot and toward before with their left foot.

At the beginning look at their feet when you make this until the practice allows him to carry out it without looking down, it is then when that movement becomes a perception.

You will find that you will win speed and it will conserve the quantity of space that you use in the dance living room

Maintaining short their steps behind with relationship to the space of the other dancers is a very important point, because besides protecting it to you in the replete living rooms of dancers, it allows you bigger ease and control in the dance. If in some teaching videotape you see the instructors that carry out long steps behind, it is only with the didactic purpose that it is seen in an ostensible way the work of the foot.

An experienced dancer that executes a simple movement, shines better, it feels better and he enjoyed his time more than a dancer that tries to make something complex in an incorrect form.

Consequently, in all our popular dances we have put a lot of emphasis in the appropriate form and of execution of each movement. Our students learn the techniques of the appropriate movement of the hip (very important in Merengue and Salsa), the use of the knees and the appropriate posture. The men learn how to take to their couple with ability and trust, and the ladies know their partner's next movement in advance to make their more amusing and easier work.

Our students work hard and they usually feel some muscular pains during the first classes.

But this hard work is really rewarded in the dancing room whem we all go to the Salón Rosado de la Tropical for a great night of Cuban popular dances!
