Hi Elizabeth,
I was reading your web site with interest.
I am a greatgrandaughter of John and Martha Chaffey (nee Trigg) and notice you have John as being the son of Thomas Chaffey, I feel that this is incorrect. I have a certified copy of their marriage certificate, 1.10.1870 which states that John's parents were in fact Benjamin and Elizabeth Chaffey (nee Vile), Martha's parents are given as James and Ann Trigg (nee Stirling) as you state. All my other research supports this, hope this will be of assistance to you.

Benjamin Chaffey wed Sep Quarter 1840 to Elizabeth Vile 1819 - 1875 #7331 aged 56, dau of Emma Walters and John Vile, in the district of Yeovil, Volume 10, Page 727, in the county of Somerset. The FamilySearch site has a Submitted Entry saying the wedding was on 7 Jul 1840 at Stoke Sub Hamdon, Somerset, England.
They appear in Victorian records 1854, and lived in Geelong, then Little River, Victoria.
