Jarvis

James Jarvis c1830 born in Middlesex, England, aged 23 came Jan 1855 on the Golconda to Australia. He died at Skipton, Vic during 1881 #8907 aged 51, son of Annie Wells and James Jarvis.
James wed 1856 #3764 to Annie Grist born at Wherwell, Hampshire, UK, arrived at Geelong 1853 on the British Empire and died at Skipton, during 1904, daughter of Martha Smith and Henry Grist. Both died at Skipton.

Yvonne's friend has provided details of the Crabb family.

George Jenkins, a bachelor, married the widow Phillis Fithall in Adelaide about 1848. They moved with the gold seekers, eventually settling at Mount Beckworth and meeting the Bryce family.
Phillis died 6 Nov 1905 at Moolerr aged 84, and is buried at St Arnaud.

A contact in Australia who is doing a lookup for me on the name PAYTER has printed out and sent me an index entry from the Digger Federation Index Victoria 1889-1901 CD for what looks to be another child for the couple above:

I got a bit excited as my great grandmother's sister Elizabeth PAYTER married (in 1851 at Bromfield SAL) a Thomas MATTINSON whose mother was Jane PARK, and wondered whether there was another connection I didn't know about.

From what I saw on your website the Ada Payter JENKYN above looks very unlikely to be connected to my PAYTER who were from Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Shropshire, but definitely looks to be one of "yours".
