PRESIDENTS
REPORT
Hello Minor Maniacs!
Unfortunately I haven’t had time this month to
bring you another interview, but I will try to do one for the next edition…….
So stay tuned!
I’m in a hurry to try to get
this in the mail before 6.00pm (Wed 14th June), so you will all get it
on Thurs. before the meeting to remind you all to come along.
This month we have had a change
of venue for our General meeting from Jon’s factory in Oakleigh to my Morris
Garages workshop at 4 Scoresby road Bayswater. This is only for the next
two or three meetings as Jon’s factory is going to be filled-up with a
hearse (probably complete with corpse).
After the formal part of the
meeting we will put some of the more interesting HOT Morries up on the
hoist and have a bit of a nose around ………… Maybe a quick Roadworthy check?
We will also have the usual
VIDEO footage ……….. This is always an interesting part of the evening!
I finally got our MODIFIED
REGISTER Website uploaded to the Internet
just before Easter. The Web address is www.oocities.org/morrismodified.
It’s not too bad so far and has about six pages including the Home page
which gives a description of the MMR, contacts, photogallery (I need more
photo’s), a links page and most importantly a coming events page to keep
everyone informed of what's happening.
The MMR Website also has links
to and from the MMCCV and the MMOC (UK) and should be listed on all the
major search engines by now.
Numbers have been down at the
race meetings again this year, still due to the fact that some members
still haven’t got their Morries back on the track due to the expense and
finding the time to spend on them.
Jon Giles and I are still trying
to get our HOT UTES going and we are getting closer every month too!
I am busy racing my MGB historic
racer in the MGCC club championship and doing pretty well……….. currently
leading my class this year, which started with two class wins at the MGCC
Concourse in January (more trophies!)……………. Thanks to Jon Giles for the
spectacular paint job.
Our Secretary Daryl Lloyd has
been running his very quick Mazda Rotary Morry in most events and our Treasurer
David Stone had an serious accident at work a few months ago which put
him out of action for a while………. Although I did see him spectating at
Rob Roy Hillclimb only a few weeks after getting out of hospital………… A
very brave man our Treasurer! ………. Even though he was very sore, he still
made it up to Rob Roy to have a look.
We are still waiting to see
Jo Aquilina’s Black Mazda Rotary Convertible and Jon Giles is still sorting-out
the Lilac Racer.
If anyone would like to contribute
to this publication please feel free to do so, you are most welcome.
See you all at the meeting.
