Daniel Webster Cole and Claressa White


Claressa was born September 20, 1837 in Stafford, CT to Charles White and Lois Cushman. She married Daniel Webster Cole December 13, 1866 in Staffordville. He was a veteran of the Civil War and a widower with no children. His first wife, Martha Bicknell, died November 10, 1861 in Wales, MA. Daniel died March 9, 1907 in Topeka, KS and Claressa died June 27, 1921 in Logan, KS.

Daniel served as a private in Company I, 34th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry from July 16, 1862 until June 20, 1865. The pension file shows them living at Big Bend, Phillips County, KS in 1890, her living in Speed, Phillips County in March 1907.Daniel was admitted to the Topeka State Hospital for the Insane on August 28, 1906 and died there March 9. 1907.

Daniel and Clara moved to Missouri, where their three sons were born and then moved on to Kansas.

Walter Eugene Arthur Herbert Everett Grant

Walter Eugene Cole was born October 15, 1867 in Sullivan County, MO and died October 1933 in Malta, MT. I don't have a record of his wife's name. ClaraThis picture of Clara and Clarence was sent to Walter's aunt, Marion White Andrews sometime between 1890 and 1905. The pictures of Walter and his wife and the one of their children was taken in Almena or Logan, Kansas. I have no further information on this family.



Arthur Herbert Cole was born October 16, 1871 in sullivan county, MO and married Myrtie Barham February 13, 1892. They had seven children. He died April 27, 1953 in Logan, KS and she died April 16, 1963. I have the census records for them for 1900, 1910 in Plainview township and 1920 in Bow Creek. Arthur is listed as a farmer in all three. Their children were , Herbert Eugene, Taunette, Charlotte Myrtie, Webster Presley, Marion Clara, Daniel Willis and Madge Elaine.

Everett Grant was born December 8, 1877 in Sullivan County, Mo and married Ellen L. about 1903. He died in 1955 in Logan, KS. They had four sons, George, Earl, Ray and Carl. In the 1900 census, Everett was still living with his parents in Belmont township and in 1910, same township with his own family.
