The Frankfurt Germany Temple

of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

The last of the six spired temples, the Frankfurt Temple actually has only one spire, otherwise it is externally identical to the Boise plan. Since the Boise, Chicago and Dallas Temples were too small and had to be added on to, the Church built the Frankfurt Temple with nearly 25,000 square feet, instead of the 15,000 that the other temples originally had. With the reunification of East and West Germany in October 1990, Germany became the second country outside the United States to have more than one temple (Canada was first by a couple of months).

The temple was announced in April 1981.
Ground was broken and construction begun in July 1985.
The cornerstone was laid and the temple dedicated on 28-30 August 1987.
There are 5 Sealing rooms and 4 Ordinance rooms in the 24,757 square foot temple.
The spire is 82 feet tall.
The Frankfurt Temple serves stakes in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, northern France, much of Germany, and a small part of Austria.
