Jennifer
is two years old now and is a very bright little girl. She is our fifth grand
child and the last grand child we will have. She is our third grand daughter. Jennifer was
supposed to be born on February 14, 2003, but the Doctors had
already decided to deliver her early on February 4. Jennifer
wasn't about to let her grand entrance be determined by someone
else so she made her appearance on her big brother David's
eleventh birthday. Jennifer was born on January 27, 2003,
and she and David will always have that special day each year
together. She is a beautiful little girl, and also her mommies
smallest little one, weighting in at seven pounds eleven ounces,
and a petite eighteen and three quarter inches long. Don't be fooled by her petite size at birth because this is no indication of the power she has over all of us in the
family! She has a head full of dark hair and looks a lot like her
mommy. Jennifer and Ashley are very close in age, only fourteen months apart. You can only imagine the fun they have playing together. Of course older sister Melissa got her wish to have a
baby sister to play with, and what could be better than having a
baby sister? How about two! Daniel and his older brother David
think that Jenny is cool, of course with two demanding little sisters around they always have something to do. Melissa takes everything in
stride, but still needs reassurances that she is still a princess,
which of course she is! Their Mommy and Daddy are very lucky to have such
beautiful children, and I am sure in a couple of years they might agree with
me...LOL! As for Paw Paw and me, well heck we couldn't ask for
more, really....no more please.....! Awe but they are the light of
this Granny's life, I figure when Paw Paw gets old...We can
spend two months a year with each of the grand children and two
months with my daughter and son - in - law and my entire year will
be covered...no retiring to Florida for this Granny and Paw
Paw. I love my family and couldn't ask for anything more,
they are the best. We look forward to watching each of these
beautiful grand kids grow up and have families of their own. I
plan on sticking around to see their children.
Update
After Jennifer was born she gave all of us a very big scare! She had
to be hospitalized at twelve days old! She had seemed to be coming
down with a cold, her older sister Ashley had also been sick with a cold
and ear infection. Because she was so young, her mommy kept a very
close eye on Jennifer, and when Jennifer seemed to be having a hard time
breathing, mommy called the Doctor. After checking Jennifer, the doctor
sent her straight to the hospital. After a battery of tests, including
chest x-rays and a spinal tap, it confirmed what the doctor already suspected.
Little Jennifer had RSV! This is a very serious respirtory virus.
She was in the Pediatric ICU for several days before being placed in the
Pediatric Unit. She was on oxygen, anti-biotics, and respirtory breathing
treatments as well as I.V.'s. She looked so tiny and helpless in those big
hospital cribs. She spent a total of five days in the hospital until she was
able to maintain her oxygen levels while sleeping. She was one sick little girl!
Her mommy stayed with her the whole time, never leaving the hospital until
Jennifer has not had any problems since this time and we certainly don't need anymore scares from this little one!
