Mid-Atlantic Running Trails by Jeff Reed This page is the center point of the trails section of the Mid-Atlantic Running site. This is intended to be one of the major pieces of the whole site, with write ups and links to numerous running trail locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. I am looking for submissions of running areas from the full region. Right now, all of the trails included are from my own running. I would like to discover new running areas through this site, and spread the word on the many trails that I know. I will be working to update and add to this page on a more regular basis. If there are any trails in your area I should include, let me know.
The Trail of the Month is the Bull Run/Occoquan Trail. Following the Bull Run and Cub Run creeks before heading downstream to alongside the Occoquan River, the trail is a wonderful, off-road experience. Home to the Bull Run 50 Mile and other races, the trasil is one of the best places to run in the DC area. Another excellent trail running location in North Carolina is Duke Forest, in Durham and Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is a 7,000 acre forest research facility that also is full of excellent running trails. It is just one of the many great running trails in the Research Triangle area. There are so many different great places to run in the Mid-Atlantic region, it would take forever just to write them up! The selection box below will connect you to the collection so far, or you can connect through the Mid-Atlantic Running Page Index. New trails will be added to this list as their page is completed. A trails review column is featured in the Washington Running Report. Joyce Adams is the trail run reviewer and there is quite a variety of trails in the area to test. Help is needed in finding and writing about the various trails of Mid-Atlantic region. Covering the areas outside of the Washington, DC area is greatly needed. If you would like, just send me a little information on a trail and I will write it up. I am adding more trails I have as I find time. So many trails, so little time! Last updated 4.2.2002 |
