Gilbart

Just found your Edwards family on your excellent website and it is very interesting. I noticed it included Mary Gilbart Edwards, the sister of my gggrandmother Elizabeth Gilbart of St Erth, who married Edmund Huthnance in Gwinear, Gornwall. Elizabeth did not appear to go to Victoria although one of her sons, William Henry Huthnance did. However another sister, Sarah, was the wife of Rev Francis Tuckfield of Geelong. There were almost certainly other Gilbarts who came here as my great aunt mentions them in some of her letters.

Thomas Edwards, 1795 - 1871, born at St Ives, Cornwall, left Plymouth 21 Sep 1848 on the Lysauder with Mary Gilbart, 1806 - 1867 and their 8 children.

John Edward Enderby c1821 came 1853 on the James L Bogart, with his wife Cath Ward c1832 and young son John coming 1855 on the 'Hope'. Cath died 1874 #6840 aged 43, daughter of Catherine Beatie and George Ward. They lived at Avoca, in Victoria, where in 1856 he was a Storekeeper.
