My Servant, Mine Elect
Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my
soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth
judgment to the Gentiles. {2} He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his
voice to be heard in the street. {3} A bruised reed shall he not break, and
the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
{4} He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth:
and the isles shall wait for his law.
(Isa 42:1-4 KJV)
Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee:
for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.
{9} For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven
eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove
the iniquity of that land in one day. {10} In that day, saith the LORD of hosts,
shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.
(Zec 3:8-10 KJV)
A New Covenant
{31} Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new
covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
{32} Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers
in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the
land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an
husband unto them, saith the LORD: {33} But this shall be the
covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those
days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts,
and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they
shall be my people. {34} And they shall teach no more every man
his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD:
for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest
of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I
will remember their sin no more.
(Jer 31:31-34 KJV)

It is Written of Me...
Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire;
mine ears hast thou opened:
[ or: "but a body hast Thou prepared me"
(Septuagint Translation) ]
burnt offering and sin offering
hast thou not required.
Then said I, Lo, I come:
in the volume of the book it is written of me,
I delight to do thy will, O my God:
yea, thy law is within my heart.

A Man of Sorrows
Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be
exalted and extolled, and be very high. {14} As many were astonied at thee;
his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons
of men: {15} So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their
mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and
that which they had not heard shall they consider.
Isaiah 52:13-15 KJV
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
{2} For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out
of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see
him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. {3} He is despised and
rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid
as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isaiah 53:1-3 KJV
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did
esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. {5} But he was wounded
for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement
of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. {6} All we
like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and
the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah 53:4-6 KJV
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is
brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is
dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
(Isaiah 53:7 KJV)
He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his
generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the
transgression of my people was he stricken. {9} And he made his grave with
the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no
violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. {10} Yet it pleased the
LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his
soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his
days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his
knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their
iniquities. {12} Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and
he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his
soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare
the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Isaiah 53:8-12 KJV
For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me:
they pierced my hands and my feet. {17} I may tell all my bones: they look
and stare upon me. {18} They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
Psalms 22:16-18 KJV
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the
inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications:
and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall
mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him,
as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
Zechariah 12:10 KJV
In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to
the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.
Zechariah 13:1 KJV

Betrayed and Rejected
And I said unto them, If ye think good, give
me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty
pieces of silver. {13} And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto
the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took
the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them
to the potter in the house of the LORD.
(Zec 11:12-13 KJV)
And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands?
Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of
my friends. {7} Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against
the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd,
and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the
little ones.
(Zec 13:6-7 KJV)
I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that
plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
{7} For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be
confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I
know that I shall not be ashamed.
(Isa 50:6-7 KJV)
Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege
against us: they
shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
(Micah 5:1 KJV)
Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted
up his heel against me.
Psalms 41:9
For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it
he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: 13 But it
was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. 14 We took sweet counsel together,
and walked unto the house of God in company.
Psalms 55:12
Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine
adversaries are all before thee. {20} Reproach hath broken my heart;
and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but
there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. {21} They gave
me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to
drink.

The Crucified One of Psalm 22
My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from
helping me, and from the words of my roaring? {2} O my God, I cry in the
daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
{3} But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. {4}
Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. {5} They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded. {6} But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. {7} All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the
lip, they shake the head, saying, {8} He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. {9} But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. {10} I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly. {11} Be not far from me; for
trouble is near; for there is none to help.
{12} Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round. {13} They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. {14} I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. {15} My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
{16} For dogs have
compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. {17} I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. {18} They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
{19} But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to
help me. {20} Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of
the dog. {21} Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns. {22} I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the
congregation will I praise thee. {23} Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel. {24} For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard. {25} My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
{26} The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever. {27} All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
{28} For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the
nations. {29} All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul. {30} A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
{31} They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this. Psalms 22 (KJV)

Resurrection from Death
I have set the LORD always before me: because he is
at my right hand, I shall not be moved. {9} Therefore my heart is glad,
and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
{10} For thou
wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One
to see corruption. {11} Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy
presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for
evermore.
Psalms 16:8-16 KJV
I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. {2} O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.
{3} O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. {4} Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. {5} For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. {6} And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. {7} LORD, by thy favour thou
hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. {8} I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication. {9} What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? {10} Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.
{11} Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; {12} To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
Psalms 30 KJV
All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt. {8}
An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that
he lieth he shall rise up no more. {9} Yea, mine own familiar friend,
in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
{10} But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.
{11} By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
{12} And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face
for ever. {13} Blessed be
the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen,
and Amen.
Psalms 41:7-13 KJV
The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. {15} The
voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous:
the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly. {16} The right hand of the
LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.
{17} I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.
{18}
The LORD hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.
{19} Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I
will praise the LORD: {20} This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous
shall enter.
{21} I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.
{22} The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
{23} This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.
Psalms 118:14-23
Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us;
he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
{2} After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us
up, and we shall live in his sight.
{3} Then shall we know, if we
follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning;
and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto
the earth.
