Sweet Georgia Brown-The Harlem Globetrotters wouldn't be the same without it.

The Devil Went Down to Georgia-Charley Daniels' third charted hit, it went to number three in the fall of 1979.

The Night The Lights went out in Georgia-Vicki Lawrence's only charted hit, it was Number 1 for two weeks in March, 1973.

Midnight Train to Georgia-As amazing as this sounds, the only number one hit for Gladys Knight and the Pipps. It hit the top of the charts in September, 1973, and stayed there for 2 weeks. Originally titled "Midnight Plane to Houston".

Rainy night in Georgia-The last of Brook Benton's hits, it reached Number 4 during the spring of 1970.

Georgia(on my mind)-Our State Song-The official version is the one Ray Charles did in 1960. It was his 5th Top 40 release and first Number 1 single. It hit the top of the charts on October 10, 1960 and stayed there for 1 week.

North Georgia rivers

Toccoa River-From its headwaters in Union County to North GA into Tennessee. Changes to Ocoee River when it crosses into Tennessee, which was the site of the 1996 Summer Olympics for white water rafting. On the Georiga side it is famous for rapids rafting and trout fishing. Plus I live on the Toccoa River, so that makes it MY favorite.

Conasauga - rises in Fannin County. About 60 miles long, it merges with the Coosawattee to form the Oostanaula River.

Coosawattee - formed in downtown Ellijay at the confluence of the Ellijay and Cartecay River, forms Carter's Lake to it's merger with the Conasauga to form the Oostanaula River. About 25 miles long.

Ellijay - rises in Gilmer County, flows to downtown Ellijay where it combines with the Cartecay to form the Coosawattee. About 20 miles long.

Tallulah River - headwaters near the Georgia-North Carolina border, it flows 20 miles and merges with the Chattooga River to form the Tugaloo.

Chattooga River - Starts near the tri-state area of North Georgia where it meets with North and South Carolina, and empties into the Tugaloo River. About 25 miles long, it forms the uppermost portion of the boundry line between Georgia and South Carolina and is one of the headwaters of the Savannah River. A second Chattooga Rivers flows in west Georgia, crossing the Georgia-Alabama border and emptying into Weiss Lake. This is where the film "Deliverance" was filmed.

Oostanaula River- rises in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Gordon County, zig-zags southwesterly for 47 miles to junction with the Etowah River at Rome, Floyd County, to form the Coosa River.

Coosa River - is formed at Rome by the Oostanaula and Etowah Rivers, flows westward about 30 miles through a wide valley between high ridges before it reaches the Alabama state line.

Etowah River - begins in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Lumpkin County, falls steeply for about 60 miles in a random pattern that is south southeast and then west southwest, gradually leveling in slope before junctioning at Rome with the Oostanaula River to form the Coosa River.

Tugaloo River - is formed by the Tallulah and Chattooga rivers. About 25 miles long, it forms a portion of the boundary line getween Georgia and South Carolina. Empties into Clarks Hill Lake.

Tallapoosa River rises near the boundary line between Paulding and Carroll counties. It arches northerly and then southwesterly through hilly terrain for about 45 miles before crossing into Alabama.

Chattahoochee River rises in the Blue Ridge Mountains near the boundary of Union and White counties and flows southwest about 410 miles where it forms the Georgia-Alabama border.
