Review:The
Shining stands as one of director Stanley Kubrick’s (A
Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket,
Eyes Wide Shut, 2001:
A Space Odyssey, Paths of Glory)
most intriguing and disturbing films. The tale centers around Jack Torrance,
(Jack Nicholson- The Last Detail, One
Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Five Easy
Pieces) a recovering alcoholic author with some anger management
issues in his past. Set inside the vacant Overlook Hotel, nestled somewhere
in the Rocky mountains, The Shining is an atmospheric masterpiece.
Like other Kubrick films the musical score is extraordinary, adding
to the bizzareness of the movie. Without a question this is my favorite
