James Henry Bone 22 Aug 1823 - 29 Sept 1898, born in Edinburgh, Scotland, son of Matthew Bone, Printer, and died in Melbourne, Victoria, buried at Melb General Cemetery aged 75 years on 1 Oct 1898, Wesleyan Area K, Grave No 816.
William Byars wrote on 6 April 1875 from 43 Pitt St, Glasgow.
Dear Uncle and Aunt. Mother died Sat 27 March 1875 and is buried in the Necropolis with Catherine, who died 12 Oct 1873 aged 26. Greetings from Grandma in Edinburgh, Ann and her husband, Uncle Jim at Berwick, James and Father.
The 1871 Census reveals the family was James Byars 49, Head, Coach Smith, Jessie 50, wife born at Leith, Catherine 23, daughter Bookfolder, William 21, son Coach Painter and James 14, son Message Boy.
James Henry Bone wed on 26 Nov 1854 to Lavinia Victoria Jones at St Martin in the Fields, by Licence, in London before migrating to Melbourne.
A mariner named James Henry Bone aged 32 came to Victoria in May 1855 on the Tasmania, and his wife is recorded as Louisa Bone aged 21. The vessel left London on 13 Feb 1855 with 72 men, 49 women, 11 boys and 11 girls. It was captained by Lewis Ernest Rudelph and had a gross of 1194 tons
