Marie N and Reinars Kaupers have been chosen to host the Eurovision Song Contest on the night of Saturday May 24th. The hosts this year have both actually taken part in the contest themselves. In 2000 Reinars was part of the band "Brainstorm" that got a very respectable 3rd place in Stockholm, Sweden and Marie N, well, who can forget her? She is the reason why eurovision is taking place in Latvia this year after winning the contest last year in Tallinn, Estonia. Shortly after eurovision in May 2000 Reinars got a big break. He was noticed by Bob Dylan who was watching the Eurovision 2000 review show that was on the following day. The rest of 2000 was spent touring europe and this went right into 2001. Reinars, as part of "Brainstorm" went on to record follow-ups to their previous hit "My Star" and the "Among the Suns" album. The album was released in 18 countries including UK, Scandinavia and Germany. Brainstorm have always kept their plans simpe, that is one of their key strengths and has amde them one of the most succesful bands from the baltic region ever. Since her win in Tallinn, Estonia last year, Marie N has performed in Germany, Greece, Cyprus, Estonia, Lithuania and Israel. In Israel she took part in the prestigious Carmeil dance festival while in Greece she visited the local Halkidiki beauty contest. Maria actually made another video for "I Wanna" because it was thought that the first video was too simple. She now hopes that she can follow in the footsteps of ABBA and become a well known artist all over the world. She has been working on new songs with another accompanying group and hopes to re-establish herself once the job of co-host for Eurovision 2003 has passed |
