JOB MARKET 1.- JOB MARKET: Existing jobs Example: The job market in Mexico is limited, so many workers try to find work in the U.S. 2.- JOB HUNTER: A person who is looking for a job. Example: Newspaper advertisements and employment agencies can help job Hunters find jobs. 3.- WORK FORCE: The number of workers in a nation Example: Most studies do not consider housewives members of the work force. 4.- SHIFT: A change in place or direction. Example: A Shieft in wind patterns can cause the weather to change. 5.- MANUFACTURING: The making of a product by hand or by machine. Example: This factory specializes in the Manufacturing of bicycles. 6.- TO PUM GAS: To put gasoline from a gas station pum into a car. Example: He Pumps gas at a gas station to make a extra money after school. 7.- WHOLESALE: The sale of products in large quantities, usually for resale. Example: Stores buy the products from Wholesale companies and then sell them to their customers at higher prices. 8.- RETAIL: The sale of products, in small quantities, directly to the costumer. Example: Department stores and supermarkets are examples of Retail store. CORRECTION: Consumer or Customer 9.- FINANCE COMPANY: A company that manages money. Examples: A bank is a kind of Finance Company. 10.- REAL ESTATE COMPANY: A business that helps people or companies buy and sell land and buildings. Examples: The Goods in that are very expensive. 12.- ECONOMIST: A specialist in economics. Example: He works for the government as an Economist. 13.- STANDARD OF LIVING: A person’s or a group’s level of economic comfort. Example: People in Western Europe and North America have a similar Standard of Living. 14.- WAGE: Money received for one hour’s work. Example: In 1988, the minimun Wage in the U. S. was $ 3.35. 15.- SKILL: A learned ability. Examples: Speaking a language and riding a bicycle are examples of Skills. 16.- PART - TIME: Working less than full time ( fewer than 35 hours a week ) Example: She had to take care of her child, so she got Part-Time work. 17.- CATEGORY: A section, group, or division. Example: Oranges, apples, and grapes belong in the Category of fruits. |
